Among 164 countries with full data in ClimatePositions 91 have Climate Debts. Note that Saint Lucia is new on the full data country-list with an accumulated per capita Climate Debt of $287. India, Lithuania and Latvia are likely to have small Climate Debts soon … by 2018 or 2019.

In addition to the full data country-list, 16 countries with lack of indicator data would have Climate Debts with roughly estimated data¹. The estimated per capita Climate Debts of these countries are:

  • Taiwan: $6,833 (total: $160.9 billion)
  • China Macao: $5,047 (total: $3.1 billion)
  • Iceland: $4,985 (total: $1.7 billion)
  • New Caledonia: $2,452 (total: $0.7 billion)
  • China Hong Kong: $2,366 (total: $17.4 billion)
  • Guadeloupe: $969 (total: $0.4 billion)
  • Malta: $931 (total: $0.4 billion)
  • Martinique: $921 (total: $0.4 billion)
  • Grenada: $779 (total: $0.1 billion)
  • French Guiana: $457 (total: $0.1 billion)
  • Maldives: $244 (total: $0.1 billion)
  • Saint Vincent and the G.: $187 (total: $0.02 billion)
  • Belize: $159 (total: $0.1 billion)
  • French Polynesia: $102 (total: 0.03 billion)
  • North Korea: $27 (total: $0.7 billion)
  • Syria: $13 (total: $0.2 billion)

Combined, the Climate Debt of the 16 countries with lack of data amounts to roughly 2% of the combined Climate Debt of the 164 countries with full data.

Aruba, Djibouti, Reunion, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Cape Verde and Somalia (all seven with lack of indicator data) would have no Climate Debts with estimated data.

Finally, Montenegro, Netherlands Antilles, Occupied Palestinian Territories and South Sudan have so far no data on Fossil CO2 Emission.
